Advocacy

The Center for Physician Advocacy (CPA) directs the state legislative and lobbying efforts of the Iowa Medical Society (IMS). We are responsible for the coordination and development of policy positions, grassroots advocacy campaigns and legislative updates, including weekly production of our legislative advocacy newsletter; The IMS Advocate.

Physician and patient advocacy has been the core of IMS' purpose since its creation in 1850. One major way the CPA supports advocacy in Iowa is by organizing our annual Physician Day on the Hill. Each year, IMS brings physicians together at the Capitol to speak with and educate the legislature about the healthcare community's most pressing issues. Join IMS on February 7, 2023 for a pre-event advocacy briefing, followed by a walk up the stairs of the Capitol to speak with legislators about issues that matter most to Iowa physicians. Register today to let your voice be heard at the statehouse.
